Using A French Press - Step By Step Instructions

!: Using A French Press - Step By Step Instructions

To many people who enjoy drinking coffee, using a French Press is an absolute necessity. However, many people who aren't experienced in using this type of coffee maker are actually intimidated by them. Yes, there are several steps involved when you prepare coffee using one of these devices, but that is no reason to stray away from them. So, here are some simple step by step instructions for creating some great tasting coffee using a press pot coffee maker.

Grinding The Coffee
The best cup of coffee starts with a good grind of coffee beans. When you are using a French Press, it is very important that you use coarsely ground coffee. If you are using your own coffee grinder, you will want to press the grinding button in short bursts only three or four times. If you are using a coffee grinder at the supermarket, you should be using the very first setting that might be labeled "percolator".

The coarsely ground coffee is important because of the filtration system used in the French Press. While the paper filters of an automatic coffee maker allow nothing but water to seep through, the wire mesh used in a press will allow finely ground coffee to pass through it. So, if you use a finely ground coffee, you will end up with particulates in your drink.

Measuring The Coffee Correctly
There are a great number of opinions as to how much coffee you should really use when you are operating a French Press. The simplest answer is that you should use anywhere from 1 g to 1 and a half g of coffee for every ounce of water that you use. So, if you are using a press pot coffee maker that holds 10 ounces of water, you will want to be using anywhere from 10 g to 15 g of ground coffee. If you use any more than that, the coffee will taste very strong and possibly bitter. If you use any less than that, there will not be enough coffee to extract flavor from, so the coffee will have a weak taste.

If you do not have a scale in your kitchen, there is no need to worry. Your French Press should have come with a small scoop or spoon that you can use to measure with. Usually, every spoonful using one of these utensils will measure out to about 1 g of ground coffee.

Mixing The Grounds And The Water
Here is the step where many people make a huge mistake. When operating a French Press, it is important that you do not use boiling water. The perfect temperature is actually about 190 degrees Fahrenheit, which is slightly under boiling. If you use boiling water, you might burn yourself and you will definitely burn the coffee grounds. This will probably result in a bitter or acidic taste.

Let The Mixture Brew
The final step in the entire process is the easiest. All you need to do is stir the mixture of coffee grounds and water and then allow it to brew for about 4 minutes. Some people prefer to put the cover on during the brewing process and some people stir the mixture for a second time at some point during the 4 minutes. Either way, at the end of the 4 minutes, make sure that the lid is on tightly with the plunger in the up position. Slowly press the plunger from the top of the device down to the bottom.

Can You Dye Hair With Coffee?

!: Can You Dye Hair With Coffee?

This is something just as food for thought if you are already a coffee lover. As it turns out, Java is a wonderful choice in a hair treatment, allowing you to naturally darken the color of your hair with a strong, black brew!

This process simply works by first shampooing your hair, and then rinsing with black coffee that has already cooled. Repeat this process several times, reusing the coffee that you have rinsed with. Allow the final rinse to remain in the hair for 15 minutes, and then rinse the hair until the water runs clear. If you are interested in dying your hair with henna as well, coffee powder can be mixed with henna to make a paste to color treat hair. This is often better for darker hair types, especially since using coffee and henna on blonde hair may make it look washed out and dirty. However, if you have black or brunette hair, this is the perfect way to darken your locks, cover up any gray, and keep your hair shiny and vibrant!

This is often a better alternative to the many chemical dyes on the market that can strip and damage all textures of hair. If you are hoping to have a gentle treatment without chemicals in your hair, coffee or espresso is a wonderful way to naturally darken your locks. If you are simply hoping to cover gray or white hair in your naturally dark hair, coffee may be the perfect way to do so. This will allow you to save money and keep your hair free from chemicals, using something as natural as your cup of Joe.

If you are hoping to cover gray or white hair, using henna may be the best choice mixed with coffee. These two ingredients can be combined with apple cider vinegar to apply directly to the hair. To begin, brew several cups of strong coffee, and mix it into a paste with henna powder. If you have medium to dark brown hair, you will need to choose a medium or dark brown henna color accordingly. Furthermore, if you have very dark hair, you may want to brew espresso instead of strong coffee for a deeper color. After you have made the paste, mix 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with the paste, and allow it to cool completely. This can be applied directly to the hair and allowed to dry, and make sure to rinse completely when you are finished. This is a natural and eco-friendly dye that can be used at home to provide great coverage for up to six weeks at a time.

If you simply rinse your hair with coffee or espresso not using henna, then the natural color may not last as long. However, it will still work as a quick boost to add shine to lifeless and limp hair. Coffee is a wonderful beverage to enjoy on a daily basis for a number of health benefits, but it is also handy enough to be used for a quick dye to restore color to your hair at home!

How To Master Your French Press - Plunger Pot Coffee Maker

!: How To Master Your French Press - Plunger Pot Coffee Maker

The French press produces a very rich, robust coffee. It is the next best brew to an Espresso. Using medium to coarse coffee grounds which when directly infused using slightly cooled boiling water, will create a great blend of aroma and flavor. The French press method is pre-warming the glass beaker with hot water, adding your preferred amount of coffee in the beaker, then adding some slightly cooled boiling water. The plunger cover is then replaced on the beaker. You should then allow the coffee to steep for about four to six minutes. Then you gently press the plunger lid down allowing it to pass through the suspended coffee. This will separate your finished coffee away from the grounds by pressing all the grounds to the bottom of the pot.

Advantages | Disadvantages of your French press

Advantages: Using this technique gives the richest body of coffee (excluding Espresso). The stop time is less, application of pressure is slight, water is hotter, and the ratio of water to coffee is greater. Grounds in this process (steeping) are just under the boiling point, which means no extra boiling or burning which will save the dark, delightful flavor and coffee aroma - with no bitterness. Also there is no paper filter to take away some of the coffee oils - which will help save your delicate aroma.

Disadvantages: The cooling down of the coffee before the steeping pressure has finished. If your coffee beans are ground too fine, it will be harder to press down the plunger lid because of the increased surface tension. And if you do not use the medium to coarse grind, you may have sediment at the bottom of our cup.

Bonus | Using the French press as a foamer to make froth.

Heat a cup of milk (using non-fat has best results) on the stove or in the microwave. Do not overheat; just heat it enough that you cannot put your finger into it. Pour the milk into a rinsed plunger pot. Pump the plunger in the pot for a few minutes and the milk will expand to three to four times its volume creating froth for your cappuccino and latte.

    Coffee Makers and Common Sense

There are many various coffee makers obtainable in the marketplace to choose from. Instead of running to your local coffee shop or favorite corner cafe for the perfect cut of espresso, consider making your own at home.

Since this is a large investment, you should spend some time learning about these machines before you buy. No, not how it was brewed but how it was that you are able to drink a cup of coffee. There are very few places that do not serve this staple and that is a very good thing to say the least.

    Coffee Maker Cover

There are two types of these: the stovetop and the electric. Cuisinart coffee maker parts are plain to procure. Bunn coffee makers are available at many numerous locations.

    Coffee Makers and Common Sense

They also developed the first pour over machine and the first automatic drip machine. If you are purchasing one of these, clearly it is vital to discover a reputable provider with past experience.

There are other affordable ways of brewing great coffee, even if it may mean turning your back on wonderful aromatic memories.

The grind and brew combination machines are the ideal way to get the freshest cup of coffee possible.

The single serve machines (such as those in the Philips Senseo range, for example) are designed to take a single pod that contains a specific brand, roast or type of coffee at a time.

A French press coffee maker has two parts: a straight-sided container usually made of glass, and a filter-plunger that pushes through.

However, keep in mind that you do not have to spend hundreds - even thousands - dollars on a top of the line espresso machine to make excellent espressos in the comfort of your own home.

In addition to comparing features you will want to compare your personal needs to the machine's abilities.

More powerful pumps toil will with finer grounds. How you will clean it depends in part on the material used in production. You program this feature and it cleans the brew group for you.

Comparing the Keurig K Cup Coffee Maker Models

The popularity of K Cup coffee makers has sparked a new interest in home coffee brewing around the world. As people discover this great new way of making coffee, they naturally have questions about what models are the best to buy. I will be reviewing several different models, but in this article I take a look at three of the Keurig models to provide you with an idea of the differences between them.

Keurig invented the K Cup idea, so it is natural that they have some of the best and most popular brewers on the market today. Among them are the Mini B30, the Elite B40, and the Platinum B70. I describe how the K Cup coffee maker works in general in another article on this topic, and these three models use the same basic technology to accomplish the task of brewing a cup of coffee. The significant difference between the low and the high end are speed of brewing, and water capacity.

    Coffee Maker Cover

The Mini B30 was designed for those who do not want a coffee maker to take up a bunch of counter space. While the B40 and B70 both have large water reservoirs, the B30 has none. With the B30, you press a button on the top to open the "jaws" of the brewer to insert your K Cup (the B30 only takes the 8 oz cup size). After inserting your favorite blend, you close the lid and the door for the water reservoir opens. At this point you fill the reservoir with 8 ounces of water, close the lid and wait about 3 minutes for the element to heat the water and pump out a hot cup of coffee. By eliminating the larger water reservoir the B30 definitely takes up less space, but at the cost of a bit longer wait time for a cup of coffee. It is designed very well, is attractive, and fits nicely in just about any nook in your kitchen.

!1: Now is the time Proctor Silex E160B Fresh Grind Coffee Grinder, White Order Today!

Nice Design by :Proctor SilexOver All Rating Reviews : Great Deal : $6.98Date Created :Mar 14, 2011 02:48:07
This Proctor Silex Fresh Grind Stainless Steel Coffee Grinder features a unique internal cord wrap, a safety on/off button, stainless steel blades and a compact Euro-Style design. Easy to clean. Model number on packaging may be listed as either E160B or 45802BY. Product is identical.

The B40 and B70 are very similar in design. The only significant difference between these two models is capacity. The idea of the water reservoir is to provide faster brewing times. With pre-heated water in the tank, it only takes about 30 seconds to brew a cup of coffee. The B40 has a 48 oz. reservoir, and the B70 has a 60 oz. reservoir. In the time it takes the B30 to brew a single cup, you could pump at least 5 cups out on either of these models. The other advantage of the larger models is the ability to brew varying amounts of water. The B40 can brew 8 and 10 oz. cups while the B70 can brew 6, 8, 10, and 12 oz. cups.

For the coffee-lover who likes the ability to program the brewer functions, the B70 offers the greatest number of automation features. While the B30 is essentially a manual personal brewer, the B40 has an "auto-off" feature, and the B70 is programmable with auto-on, auto-off, and adjustable water temperature.

Which Large Coffee Maker is Good?

Since the creation of this black beverage, the coffee maker has become an essential accessory in almost everyone home kitchen and can be seen in most offices, hotels, and other businesses.

This machine has evolved over the past years - from the vacuum pot to the dual function and the drip brewer, which is one of the most common types of brewers found in the household.

    Coffee Maker Cover

There now exists a wide range of brands and different types of brewers available to suite everyone needs. Specialty brewers have also been designed with particular features such as the Zojirushi coffee maker which is specifically designed to keep coffee hot and the Cuisinart machine which is known for its famous Cuisinart charcoal water filter built in their machines.

Which Large Coffee Maker is Good?

For offices, catering services, and cafe, a large coffee maker is the preferred type of machine to use instead of the average or standard size ones.

A large brewer such as a coffee urn offers many advantages over your ordinary ones, the most important of which is that it provides more numerous cups of coffee.

Several urns are available in the market, some popular examples are the Delonghi Coffee Urn DCU500T, Westbend Commercial Urn 33600, and the Hamilton Beach Urn D50065.

The Delonghi Coffee Urn DCU500T and the Hamilton Beach Urn D50065 share many similar features. Both urns have on and ready light indicators to indicate when your coffee is brewing and when it is ready to serve.

Their exteriors are made of stainless steel to give you years of reliable service and they also share similar "cool touch" handles that are heat resistant so you would not scorch your fingers while handling the urns.

The two urns also have a warming feature - the Hamilton Urn has a keep warm feature to maintain temperature while the Delonghi Urn automatically switches to the warming cycle as soon as the brewing cycle is over.

Unlike the Hamilton, this Urn has a freshness indicator with increments of 20 minutes up to an hour to tell the user how long the drink has been kept warm, and it can be kept hot and fresh for up to 6 hours.

On the other hand, the Hamilton has the cup-a-minute feature with a faster brewing speed so you can have your coffee without the wait.

The Delonghi Urn also has a level indicator to tell how much coffee is left and to warn the user if it is running low while the Hamilton Urn has a water/ coffee window for easy filling and to show you when the level is low.

This brewer has a drip tray for fast and easy cleanup whereas the Hamilton is dishwasher safe for your cleaning convenience.

This DCU500T has a maximum capacity of 50 cups while the Hamilton Beach Urn D50065 has a 60 cup capacity.

Another large machine to consider is the Westbend Commercial Urn 33600. The Urn is ideal for a larger number of guests as it can serve up to 100 cups of coffee and is UL listed for commercial use.

The Westbend shares similar features as the other two machines mentioned including heat resistant handles, coffee level gauge and water indicators.

It also shares the one-cup-a minute feature of the Hamilton. Unlike the Delonghi and the Hamilton, however, the Westbend Urn is made of highly polished aluminum, has a two way dripless faucet, and a twist lock cover.

So, which one is better? Personally, I would go for the bigger name, in this Case, Delonghi. The reason being that for the bigger brands, you would have an easier time looking for servicing and spare parts.
